We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful fall afternoon for our 19th annual Road Rally. Fifty-seven teams totaling 154 participants drove 66 miles through the beautiful back roads of Adams County (and a few miles into Carroll County, Maryland, too) as they traveled “the scenic route” between the Rally start at the Adams County Agricultural and Natural Resources Center and the Finish Line Party at the Adams County Arts Council. Along the way, participants pinned the tail on the donkey at the Under The Horizon pottery center, played shuffleboard at Ski Liberty’s Eagle & The Owl restaurant (and met real-live owl Strix), assembled a puzzle and took a tour at The Taney Corp., and relished the 19th-century beauty of the historic Adams County Courthouse in downtown Gettysburg.
At the Finish Line Party, Honorary Rally Master (and Arts Council Executive Director) Christina Glatfelter awarded prizes for Dead Last but Finished (Brian & Donna Pedrick), Roads Scholar (Frank & Carolyn Taylor), Best Costume (Jim & Brenda McCabe), Coolest Car (Hubert Snyder’s green Mustang), the President’s Cup (the Gaenslen-Driscoll clan), and the Grand Prize ACNB Cup with fuzzy dice (Bruce & Jeanne Neylon, driving for Kuhn Orchards).
But the real winner at the Road Rally, of course, was rural Adams County, as together we raised more than $25,000—crucial funding that will go directly toward the work of protecting those lands forever!
We offer a special thanks to our many loyal sponsors—see them here!
